Bands Selection #3 - Work Drugs


L'un des meilleurs groupes américains de dream pop nous a gentiment préparé une playlist pour ce mois de mars. Work Drugs a réuni une vingtaine de titres incontournables. Avec David Bowie, Supertramp, Fleetwood Mac ou Serge Gainsbourg (Oui, un artiste français!), Cette sélection devrait vous donner une idée sur les influences musicales du groupe. One of the best American dream pop bands has kindly prepared a playlist for us. Work Drugs has gathered some classical and unforgettable tracks. With David Bowie, Supertramp, Fleetwood Mac or Serge Gainsbourg (Yeah, a French artist!), this selection essential may give you an idea about the band’s musical influences. Weldon Irvine - We getting Down: a massive groove based track that we have been digging

Culture Club - Karma Chameleon: what a track!  sure we all know it, but this one sonically sounds especially great!!! something to strive for

Smashing Pumpkins - Mayonaise: an impactful track from our formative years

Paul Simon - You can Call me Al: We love paul simon and this record was always in high rotation when we took a road trip.

Serge Gainsbourg - Melody: this guy just gave off such a cool aura, and this style is something we have tried to emulate from time to time

Marcia Griffiths - Naturally: Love Love Love this one recently, a great early dub track

Bruce Springsteen - Jungleland: what can i say, this is so cinematic. It is an entire album in one song.  It is just such a great track, that brings about lots of themes.

Steve Winwood - Higher Love: we love winwood and this 80's era winwood track sounds great on a big system, and we love the layered production and the harmonies.

Bee Gees - Night on Broadway: we love the bee gees and this mid 70's era track shows a band in transition, and we love when artists show growth, and its something we strive for

This Lizzy - Cowboy Song: Buy this album!!! Jailbreak is so great!!!

Derek and the Dominos - Bell Bottom Blues: the interplay is great, and is something we think about when arranging our material for a live show

Queen - Don't Stop Me Now - Such a high energy track: I think most of our tunes are high energy - so this was a natural fit

Grandaddy - Summer Here Kids - Such a wordsmith: lyrically we love a vast majority of the grandaddy catalog. 

Roy Orbison - Oh Pretty Woman: this song is so well written, such a timeless masterpiece.  

The Band - Jawbone: Sure other tracks in the band's catalog get more airplay, but damn! do we love this track.  

Al Stewart - Year of the Cat: So many solos , piano, guitar, synth, sax, and such a cool piano riff.  We do that sometimes.

Fleetwood Mac - Dreams: Such a great song that never goes to the one chord - any musical geeks will now what we mean

Tonto's Expanding Head Band: Riversong - light a candle - turn out the lights and get weird

Supertramp - Logical Song: this is such a great record, great melodies and production!!!

Beach Boys - Surfer Girl: we love the beach boys, and this classic still sounds amazing even though its 50 years old.

Big Star - The Ballad of El Goodo: we love big star and recently got back into the band - after watching that recent Rock doc on netflix.

T. Rex - Mambo Sun: So Cool!!!

David Bowie - Young Americans: we love philly and this is a great philly record by a great artisit!!! recorded at sigma

The Velvet Underground - I'll Be Your Mirror: so sad to hear of lou's passing. he will live on with his phenomenal creative output

Steely Dan - Glamour Profession: Gaucho is such an underrated record and the lyrics of this track are soooooo clever.  something we try to do ourselves.

Journey - Lights: this song sounds amazing turned up loud!!!
